Stand Alone Stations

Solar Power Stations are the ideal equipment to generate power in remote areas.

The solar array produces the power and stores it More Info
The Stand Alone Station Solar Array, is set-up the same way as a grid connection

The only difference is that the power produced is stored in a battery so you can save it and use it on demand.

Solar Controller

The power generated from the Solar Array is managed by the Solar Controller .

 More Info
The controller, is placed between the solar array and the battery pack. The most common used controllers are 12 volt and 24 volts. Once the battery is fully charged the controller disconnects it from the solar array to prevent it from overcharging. Another feature some controllers have is the ability to connect to a load eg: lights or a laptop.

Its best to install isolation switches inline to the input and output terminals to allow the system to be serviced and for other safety reasons.

Inverters DC to AC Power

The Solar Array generates DC power, so an inverter is required.

The inverter takes the DC power and inverts it to AC power. More Info
The Inverter is required only if you need to run 240vac house hold appliances.

The safest way to use the inverter is to attach it to the battery pack. Its not advisable to connect it directly to the controller load terminal.

Power Storage

If power is need to be stored and used at a later date.

Batteries are great for this application. More Info
The Battery has served for many uses over the years and they are ideal for Solar Power Stations.

Everyone will give you their own opinion for which battery is best suited for Solar Power Stations. What one will need to be aware of, is that the battery chosen will need to cope with heavy power drain during times when there is a high demand for power. Solar power is a slower charger than say a generator that is a quick charger. If a battery requires a quick charge to maintain its power level, then it may not be suited for the slow charging method. Having an extra bank of batteries may also serve as good backup for those times of higher demand.
